Warranty Policy

All SMX Drives motor controllers come with a comprehensive 1-year LIMITED warranty. Read below for full details.

Limited Warranty Disclosure

This is a LIMITED warranty as defined under the U.S. Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. §§ 2301 et seq.). It applies only to the original end-user purchaser, is non-transferable, and covers only the defects and conditions expressly listed below. Coverage is limited to repair or replacement of the product at SMX Drives' discretion. Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties or the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the limitations in Section 6 may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights; you may also have other rights which vary by state, province, or country.

1. Coverage Period

The warranty period is 12 months (1 year) from the date of delivery as confirmed by the shipping carrier. The warranty applies to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.

2. What Is Covered

  • Manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship
  • Component failures under normal operating conditions
  • Firmware bugs that affect controller operation
  • Solder joint failures and PCB defects
  • Connector failures from standard use
  • Power MOSFET and capacitor failures during normal operation

3. What Is Not Covered

  • Physical damage from drops, impacts, or accidents
  • Water damage from improper installation (IP67 requires proper sealing)
  • Damage caused by exceeding rated voltage or current specifications
  • Unauthorized firmware modifications or tampering
  • Normal wear and tear on connectors and cables
  • Damage from incorrect wiring or reversed polarity
  • Use with incompatible motors or batteries outside rated specifications
  • Cosmetic damage that does not affect functionality

4. Claim Process

  1. Submit a Claim: Visit our Warranty Claim page and fill out the form with your order details, serial number, and a description of the issue. Attach clear photos or a short video of the problem.
  2. Review: Our warranty team will review your claim within 48 hours and may request additional information or diagnostic steps.
  3. Return of Defective Unit: If the claim is approved, you will ship the defective controller back to our Ahmedabad facility. Outbound return shipping (from you to us) is the customer's responsibility. We recommend tracked, insured shipping — keep the receipt for reimbursement review if the defect is confirmed to be a manufacturing fault.
  4. Replacement / Repair: Once the unit arrives and the defect is confirmed, we will repair or replace it at our discretion. SMX Drives covers the cost of shipping the repaired or replacement unit back to you, DDP — duties and taxes included.
  5. Turnaround: Most warranty claims are resolved within 7 – 14 business days from the time the unit is received at our facility, plus transit time.
Shipping cost summary:Customer pays one-way shipping (defective unit → SMX Drives, India). SMX Drives pays return shipping (replacement unit → customer, DDP).

5. Automatic Warranty Activation

Your warranty activates automatically upon delivery — no registration required. We'll reach you about any safety notices or firmware updates using the email associated with your order.

6. Limitation of Liability

Three Shul Motors Pvt Ltd liability under this warranty is limited to the repair, replacement, or refund of the product. We are not liable for any incidental, consequential, or indirect damages arising from the use or inability to use the product.
